Scholarships

Giving all youth members a way to be recognized.

The purpose of the Milt Bradford Heritage of Ranching/ Agriculture Memorial Scholarship is to assist students who are seeking to further their education with continuing the heritage of ranching and/ or agriculture. Five $3,000 scholarships will be awarded at the 2024 NYCHA Youth Convention Week during the NYCHA Award Banquet at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The recipient will be notified prior to the NYCHA Award Banquet.

Milt Bradford Heritage of Ranching/Agriculture Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility requirements are as follows:

  1. Be student attending/planning to attend college in the Fall of 2024.
    1. High school senior or college student pursuing an accredited two-or four-year degree or trade school with an emphasis in continuing Heritage of Ranching or Agriculture.
  2. Be accepted by any accredited state supported college, university, community college, or trade school nationwide.
    1. Proof of enrollment must be included in your application package.
  3. Be a NCHA Member in good standing.
  4. Applicants (including those who have previously been awarded the scholarship) are welcome to apply annually.

Applicants will be selected on the following criteria:

  1. Academic Accomplishment
    May include but is not limited to, grades, awards, recognition in school, etc.

    1. Minimum current 3.0 GPA (REQUIRED)
  2. Extracurricular Activities
    May include but is not limited to, sports, church activities, volunteer work, etc.
  3. Leadership Activities
    May include but is not limited to, student government, 4-H, FFA, etc.
  4. Special consideration will be given to those pursuing ranching/agricultural areas of focus.
    Course examples: agronomy, animal science and nutrition, horticulture, sustainable agriculture, agriculture education and extension, agriculture business or finance, agriculture economics, agricultural engineering, agricultural mechanics, agricultural development, animal breeding and genetics, veterinary sciences, etc.
  5. Essay
    Please write a short essay, no more than 250 words, explaining how your college education will help you achieve your career objectives and personal goals related to Ranching & Agriculture. If you a returning applicant who has previously been awarded a Milt Bradford Heritage of Ranching/Agriculture Memorial Scholarship, please use your essay to share how the scholarship aided in your pursuit of higher education.
